Frequently Asked Questions
- How do you catch moles? We only use traps. The only other legal method of mole control available is gassing, which in our experience is expensive and unreliable.
- Can I trap moles myself? Yes, Some people can catch moles themselves. We do, however believe that most modern traps available on the DIY market are unsuitable, and can be inhumane.
- Is the treatment safe? Yes, the traps we use are designed to catch moles in their tunnels. We do not use any poisons or gas to kill moles, and our service is very safe and reliable.
- I do not like the idea of killing something. Is it possible to live catch moles? While it is possible to live catch moles, we do not do so as it is our belief that it is more inhumane to confine a wild animal like a mole than to kill it instantly. There is also the problem of what to do with any live caught mole. The traps we use usually kill the mole instantly.
- How many moles do I have? Moles are solitary and will defend their territory from other moles. The number of moles depends on the available food, and a single mole territory can include many molehills.
- What harm do moles do? Apart from leaving unsightly molehills, moles also cause Listeriosis by contaminating grass silage. Molehills also contain weed seeds, and stones which damage cutting machinery.
- Is your mole control service guaranteed? It is not possible to guarantee that you will never have moles again. If your land is attractive to moles, then you may have more moles in the future. We only charge you for the moles we catch.
- How much does a treatment cost? Please contact us for pricing information. The price will depend on the type of land involved and the distance we have to travel. We only charge 'per mole', there are no 'set up' charges, or 'travel' charges.
- I'm at work all day, can you call in the evening or on the weekend? Yes, we will happily attend at a time to suit you. We do not charge extra to attend in the evenings or at the weekend, and you can phone us at any time.
- What if I live outside your area? We cover all of Devon and Somerset, and most of Dorset and Wiltshire. If you live outside these areas we may be able to recommend a reputable contractor, please e-mail us or visit our Links page for more information.
